Module: 4.5.7 Power and Purpose: Empowering Youth to Take Action
Well-being is a function of the control and power young people have in their schools and communities. When people advocate for policies and opportunities that address causes of harm, these activities contribute to a sense of purpose, power and control over life situations. All of these are ingredients necessary to restore well-being and healing. The role of staff in supporting a young person’s healing is to create the space for young people to to make decisions and drive change - in their own lives, in their communities, and in their larger spheres of influence.
