Module: 4.5.4v Virtual Module: Cultivating Community Partnerships
During this module, participants will gain an understanding of when a young person’s mental health needs require professional support, explore resources in their community that can support a young person's mental health and create an action plan to cultivate partnerships with resources in their community.
This module was developed as a part of the OST Wellness Network and adpated for virtual delivery as a part of the Virtual Training Project.
NOTE: Participants must download and install the Zoom app prior to the session. Be sure to test your technology ahead of time and join the call at least 5 minutes early. (If you don't have access to a video-capable device, you may join on audio only using the phone numbers in the confirmation email.). Lastly, participants will be utilizing Google Docs during the session.
In this training, participants will:
- Gain an understanding of when a young person’s mental health needs require professional support and expertise
- Explore the types of community partners and services that are needed to serve their youth and families
- Create an action plan to cultivate partnerships with resources in the community
Content Overview:
Pet of the Year
Participants will have an opportunity to practice advocating with one another.
Role of Out-of-School Time Staff
Participants will review the differences between their role as an out-of-school time staff member and the role of a mental health professional when supporting a young person’s mental health and wellness.
Defining Community
Participants will identify and define their community to prepare them to think about the resources in their community that can support them.
Community Resources Mapping
Participants will spend time identifying and mapping resources in their community that can support a young person’s mental health and wellness.
Cultivating Partnerships: Action Planning
Participants will create an action plan to cultivate partnerships with the various resources in their community.
Training Length: 2 hours
