Module: 4.6.3 We Are 100: Supporting Self-Awareness and Self-Management
During this module, participants will learn about how young people’s responses affect personal emotion and behavior, how to introduce and implement group agreements, and share current strategies and resources to support the development of young people’s self-awareness and self-management skills.
This module was developed as part of the Expanded Learning 360/365 project, revised in 2016 to specific language, examples and tips for summer and year-round learning programs and revised in 2019 to incorporate language to support mental health and wellness.
In this training participants will:
- Understand how young people’s responses affect personal emotion and behavior;
- Explore how group agreements and reflection can support young people and adults in practicing self-awareness and self-management;
- Share current strategies and resources to support We Are skill building with youth.
Participants will review a list of group agreements and consider how they might be used to support the development of self-awareness and self-management.
Exploring Personal Competence
Participants will reflect on how youth emotions and behaviors can cause a negative response in them. Participants will also identify their own strategies to respond instead of react to particular behaviors or actions.
Program Practice and Resource Sharing
Participants will share and discuss the strategies identified, current practices, and resources for supporting youth in self-management and self-awareness.
