Module: 4.7.1 Leading with Head and Heart
Those in leadership positions have a responsibility to both lead and manage. Participants will understand the differences between the two, and the steps we can take to cultivate both. Participants will explore how leaders create safe, supportive environments by modeling self-awareness, interpersonal skills and growth mindset in how we lead and manage.
In this training participants will:
- Participants will explore the benefits of cultivating social-emotional and character skills in relation to leadership development.
- Understand how actions differ between managers and leaders.
- Assess their own management and leadership behaviors within their current position.
- Understand an approach to leadership that includes an awareness of social-emotional and character skills.
Content Overview:
Management vs. Leadership
Participants will understand the distinction between management and leadership and the social-emotional learning and character skills exercised to complete actions in these areas.
Take Action: Job Alignment in Management and Leadership
Participants will have an opportunity to reflect on the activities in their own job that are a function of management and leadership to help them deepen in both competencies.
Reframing Leadership
Participants will be introduced to an approach to leadership that includes an awareness of social-emotional and character skills.
